SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA — Part of the American Bank & Trust vision is to make a positive and lasting impact in the communities we serve in South Dakota. One way we accomplish this is through the highly successful Spirit Card program. A Spirit Card is a debit card that showcases a school district’s name, colors and mascot. When an account holder makes a purchase with their Spirit Card, American Bank & Trust donates a percentage of the purchase to the school as supplemental income.
The James Valley Christian School Vikings Spirit Card is one of 4 schools being added to the Spirit Card program lineup in 2021. The new card will be available for issuance starting January 15, 2021.
Since the program started in 2012, American Bank & Trust has donated $121,900 to area schools. Examples of items purchased by the receiving schools are lunch-room tables, portable speakers, books, wobble stools, a climbing wall, field trips and technology.
When donation amounts are determined, each branch will contact their partner school district to collect donation request applications from teachers and school administration. Donation request applications are submitted on the bank’s website at abt.bank/spirit-cards. Applications are reviewed by market and school district leadership to determine which projects will be funded.
Spirit Cards are a great way to give back to local schools, show hometown pride and become a part of something bigger. American Bank & Trust is proud to do all those things while ensuring students receive the tools they need for a strong education. Visit the Huron branch of American Bank & Trust to order the new James Valley Christian School Vikings Spirit Card starting Friday January 15.
